Clare’s Green Party Senator has called for changes to many apprenticeships, to benefit school leavers in particular.

Speaking during a recent Oireachtas Committee meeting, Senator Roisin Garvey questioned why a number of apprenticeships start in January, and whether this is really of any benefit to people who finished school or college the previous summer.

She stated that the issue had come to light after she’d spoken with guidance counsellors, and the Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board, and called for it to be examined.
