Figures Flagging Kilrush Labour Increase Are Questioned

An Independent Kilrush Councillor is questioning the figures used in a new study, which finds the town is now a key labour catchment area in West Clare.

A Western Development Commission analysis of census data finds that between 2006 and 2016, an additional 839 workers were recorded as working in the town of Kilrush and surrounding labour catchment area, that now includes Kilkee.

The report also highlights an increase in employment for all town catchments across the county.

Kilrush Councillor Ian Lynch has been telling Clare Fm’s Sally-Ann Barrett that he’s not convinced that the report is entirely reflective of the reality on the ground.
