An Ennis restaurateur admits there’s an industry-wide issue in hospitality, where tips aren’t being evenly distributed among staff.
It comes as the Government is bringing forward new legislation to ban employers using service tips to help pay workers’ wages, and require businesses to display their policies on tipping.
Employers would no longer be allowed to use tips to bring employees’ pay into line with their contractual wage.
