Ennis Meeting To Hear Calls For Intervention In Childcare Crisis

A major meeting is being held in Ennis tonight, where the early years sector will call for government investment to combat their current crisis.

The Big Start Campaign, organised by SIPTU, wants to reverse the trend that has seen graduate workers in the sector earning just above minimum wage, forcing them to seek work in other areas.

They also say that parents are under serious strain in terms of meeting the cost of childcare, which is leading to a worrying crisis in the childcare industry.
