Ennis Haulier Accuses Government Of ‘Sticking Plaster Solutions’ To Address Fuel Crisis

An Ennis haulier is accusing the Government of implementing ‘sticking plaster solutions’ to address the rising cost of fuel.

Concerns about price gouging and soaring petrol and diesel costs have taken centre stage at the Oireachtas Transport Committee this week, which includes a number of Clare members.

The Cabinet signed off on a reduction in excise duty last month, with the Tanaiste suggesting further measures on bringing prices down will be discussed at an EU leaders summit this week.

However, Eugene Drennan of Spa Transport on the Lahinch Road, who’s also President of the Irish Road Haulage Association, says further State intervention is needed quickly.
