East Clare Councillor Calls For Overhaul Of Compulsory Purchase Order Law

An East Clare Councillor is calling for an overhaul of the law surrounding compulsory purchase orders to bring vacant and derelict properties back into use more quickly.

This week’s meeting of the Killaloe Municipal District has heard that Clare County Council has examined 54 vacant properties in the East of the county with a view to bringing them back into use, with nearly half of these being identified as having ‘potential’ to do so.

It’s understood the local authority intends to be ‘significantly more active’ in its use of CPOs in the future.
