Ennis Councillors are remaining ‘hopeful’ about a resolution being found to recommence the ‘walking bus’ service for Ennis National School students.

Parents and guardians have expressed concerns about the resource not being made available for pupils due to a long running standoff between stakeholders.

Representatives discussed the matter at this week’s Municipal District meeting, where they were refused permission to see legal advice given to Clare County Council on why its planning department does not intend to pursue the matter.

The local authority says the advice is under legal privilege and cannot be distributed publically.

Fianna Fail Councillor Clare Colleran Molloy says a further meeting is to take place next week in an attempt to make a breakthrough on the issue.
