Clare VFI Chair Says New Alcohol Legislation Could Cause ‘Over Saturation’ Of Pubs

The Chair of the Clare branch of the Vintners’ Federation of Ireland says new Government proposals could cause the ‘over saturation’ of pubs.

The Sale of Alcohol Bill 2022 is making its way through the Oireachtas, with suggestions the system that only allows a new pub to open only when another permanently closes could be ripped up.

Pub numbers across the country have declined by more than 20 percent over the last 17 years.
