Clare Retained Firefighters Claim “Trust Issues” With Government Following Industrial Action Campaign

Clare’s retained firefighters say they have “trust issues” with Minister Darragh O’Brien following months of unsuccessful Labour Court negotiations.

SIPTU firefighters voted yesterday by a majority of 63% to accept the Workplace Relations Commission’s recommendations which sees the three-month-long industrial action campaign of over 2,000 members come to an end.

Under the WRC agreement, newly recruited retained firefighters will have guaranteed minimum earnings of over €18,000 while the guaranteed earnings of firefighters with more than eight years of experience will be over €21,000.
