Clare Retailer Preparing To Change Opening Hours If Energy Blackouts Hit

A prominent Clare retailer is preparing to alter opening hours if rolling energy blackouts become a reality this winter.

Cabinet met yesterday to discuss the country’s winter energy plan, with Minister for the Environment Eamon Ryan promising that the coalition is committed to providing ‘quick-acting’ measures to tackle rising energy costs.

The meeting coincided with another price rise as Energia announced it would be upping electricity by 29% and gas by 39% from October 7th – the company’s second increase this year.
