Clare Property Taxes To Fund Projects In Other Counties

Two million euro in property tax revenue collected from Clare homeowners will be used to fund local authorities in other parts of the country next year.

The Irish Independent is reporting on new figures from the Department of Finance, which outlines how counties with the biggest property tax takes see some of their money allocated to other areas, under an equalisation fund.

The situation in Clare is largely in line with recent years, a situation that has been criticised by some local representatives who think the money should be kept here.

9.9 million euro in property taxes were collected from over 53,000 property owners in Clare last year, with Revenue reporting a compliance rate here of 99.4%.
