Clare Independent TD Says Waiting For Budget For Cost Of Living Measures Isn’t Soon Enough

A Clare Independent TD believes the Government waiting until the budget to implement cost of living measures isn’t soon enough.

A report released by the ESRI suggests as many as 40 percent of people may be living in energy poverty in the next three months if no interventions are brought in by the State.

Both the Tánaiste and the Taoiseach have said while both targeted and broad measures are being looked at, it’s likely these won’t be introduced until October’s Budget.

However, Scariff-based Independent TD Michael McNamara fears there will be difficulties around both fuel and food costs in the next number of months.
