Clare Historian Casts Doubt Over Any Potential Boris Johnson Visit To Clare

A historian who uncovered the new British Prime Minister’s Clare roots believes he has no interest in tracing his ancestral past here.

Boris Johnson’s seventh great grandfather James O’Gorman was born in Bunratty Castle in the year 1688, a link which has prompted the Mayor of Clare to invite him to visit the county.

Ennis historian Declan Barron, who traced the Prime Minister’s heritage, has sent him a letter and a package, telling him about what he has found out but only received a secretary’s letter in response.

He doesn’t believe we’ll see a visit from Boris any time soon.
