Clare Haven Services Manager Describes Volume Of 999 Calls Not Acted On As “Chilling”

The Manager of Services at Clare Haven has described as “chilling” the volume of domestic abuse victims, who’s 999 calls weren’t acted upon.

The Garda Commissioner has apologised to victims of domestic abuse, after he appeared before the Policing Authority.

It follows a review of domestic violence incidents, which began last year after it was noted the number of 999 calls didn’t match the number of referrals to the Garda Pulse System.

During the pandemic, Clare Haven worked closely with the local garda division as part of Operation Faoiseamh, and Dr Siobhan O’Connor says she believes local members are proactive in their efforts to stamp out domestic abuse.
