Clare Govt TD Claims Budget 2022 Benefits ‘Most Vulnerable In Society’ Despite Criticism

A Clare Government TD insists Budget 2022 will benefit the ‘most vulnerable in society’ despite criticism from both the opposition and advocacy groups.

Pensioners and social welfare recipients will receive five euro increases, while an extra 100 million euro has been set aside for childcare.

The SUSI grant will increase for students, while under 23s are to benefit from half price public transport and the minimum wage is to be reduced.

90 million euro has also been set aside for State airports including Shannon subject to State aid approval.

Meelick-based Fianna Fail Deputy Cathal Crowe believes there will always be winners and losers in a Budget, but the most vulnerable will be looked after next year.
