Clare Financial Advisor Believes One Off Cost Of Living Package Most Effective Use Of Income Tax Surplus

A Clare Financial Advisor believes the government needs to use its record tax revenue to re-introduce a suite of one-off cost of living supports in the upcoming budget.

The state collected a total of €47.8 billion in tax revenue between January and July, representing an increase of €4.3 billion or 10% on the amount received at this time last year.

Cabinet members are currently exploring targeted energy supports for businesses and households, while it’s understood that additional child welfare payments are also on the table.

However, Tommy Corbett from Carey Corbett Financial Solutions in Ennis says the government should use any additional funding to supplement welfare recipients and middle income earners.
