Clare Farmers Rep Says Trebling PRSI Would Be Severe Blow For Sector

The Clare Chair of the Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association says the suggestion to treble PRSI for farmers would be a severe blow for the sector.

The Commission on Taxation and Welfare has proposed the government increase the rate paid by self-employed workers from 4% to 11.05% over time.

The commission will publish its report today, and is highlighting how the benefits afforded to the self-employed have increased in the last number of years without a rise in social insurance.
