Cathaoirleach of Clare County Council, Cllr Tony O’Brien, said “On behalf of Clare County Council and the people of Clare, I wish to extend my deepest sympathies and condolences to the families and friends of those who lost their lives in this terrible tragedy. Our thoughts are with them and with the wider community in Creeslough.

“I invite everyone to sign the Book of Condolence and pay tribute to the people who died” he said.

It comes as the first funeral for a victim of the Creeslough explosion will take place this morning, when 24 year old Jessica Gallagher is laid to rest.

It will be followed by the funeral of 49 year old Martin McGill, which will take place later this afternoon.

Eleven candles have been placed on the alter of St Michael’s Church in Creeslough, to remember the 10 people who were tragically killed in the disaster, and one candle for those injured in the blast.

Archbishop of Armagh Eamon Martin says the entire country is grieving.
