Ennis’ Christmas lights have traditionally been lit up for 24 hours during the festive period.

However, this year they’ll only be on between 3pm and 3am each day, as Clare County Council considers its energy consumption over the winter.

Free parking in the town’s public carparks will also get underway from the 25th of November, and will run until the 2nd of January.

Residents and shoppers are also being reminded to take advantage of parking facilities in both Cloister and Drumbiggle.

The traditional Christmas market in Abbey Street runs from the 1st to the 4th of December, with the street radio initiative beginning on the 9th.

A drive-in movie at Clare Marts will be screened on Sunday, December 18th.

O Connell Street is to be pedestrianised from 11.30am to 4.30pm until the end of the festive period.
