Ballycannon Residents Disappointed In Lack Of Communciation From Irish Water On Vital Wastewater Works

Residents in a South East Clare housing estate are ‘disappointed’ that they weren’t updated by Irish Water on the progress of vital wastewater treatment works.

The land acquisition process is currently underway to facilitate planned upgrades to wastewater infrastructure at Meelick/Ballycannon, with construction expected to begin next year, a year after Irish Water confirmed to locals that the works would begin.

Ballycannon Heights in Meelick, an estate of 62 homes built in the early 80’s, is badly affected by the existing sewage facility, with residents experiencing persistent issues with foul odours.

Homeowner in the estate, Majella Sheehan says she’s ‘disturbed’ that Irish Water didn’t let them know that construction work would not begin this year.
