American Taxpayers Paid $3.6m For Trump Doonbeg Visit – Report

It’s estimated that the US taxpayer paid nearly $2 million per night to allow President Donald Trump visit his Doonbeg golf resort.

President Trump spent less than 48 hours in Clare last week, touching down on Wednesday and leaving on Friday, with a trip to Normandy in the middle.

Before travelling, he said his Doonbeg resort would be “convenient” but the Huffington Post estimates that it cost $3.6 million more for him to come to Ireland than if he had travelled to France directly from the UK, and then return straight home.

The figures don’t include the spending on his trip by the Irish state, with the security costs estimated at €10 million.
