Almost 3,000 carers in Clare will benefit from an annual support grant of €1,850.
The Carers Support Grant has been introduced to provide financial assistance to some 125,000 people across the country, who provide full-time care to older people or those with disabilities, with the overall cost ecpected to be in the region of 260 million euro.
The grant will be available to carers regardless of their means, and will be exempt from income tax, PRSI and USC.
