816 People In Clare Avail Of Parent’s Benefit Since Scheme Expanded

816 people in Clare have received some form of Parent’s Benefit from the State since the scheme expanded in April.

The Government granted an additional three weeks’ leave to mums and dads earlier this year, bringing the total entitlement to five weeks paid leave per parent.

It represents a 40 percent jump in this county from before the initiative was enhanced, when 584 parents here opted to take the leave.

Parents can avail of the benefit for up to two years from the birth or adoption of the child under the remit of the scheme.
