It’s claimed the high number of ambulances presenting at the Emergency Department at the region’s main hospital provides proof of the need for round the clock A&E services in Ennis.
2,074 emergency ambulances presented at the ED at University Hospital Limerick in March, over 500 more than the next busiest hospital in the country.
The information comes amid record levels of overcrowding in recent months, with trolley numbers at the Dooradoyle facility peaking at 126.
