A Clare man is spearheading an effort to have a short-term letting company found to be complicit in war crimes in Palestine.
The Global Legal Action Network is seeking a judicial review of a Gardaí decision not to investigate a complaint in August 2023 alleging AirBnb is laundering the profits of Israeli war crimes by listing properties in illegal settlements.
In a statement to Clare FM, AirBnb says it “operates in compliance with applicable Irish and US laws” and since 2019, it’s “donated all profits generated from host activity in the West Bank to an international non-profit”.
Kilmaley native and Chairperson of Sadaka, the Ireland Palestine Alliance, Éamonn Meehan, who was involved in the initial complaint, believes they have a strong case.
