CSO Releases Average Age Of Clare Communities

Clare’s oldest communities are in the North of the County, while the youngest are in the South and East of the County.

The CSO has outlined the average age in each of the 155 electoral divisions in Clare.

The oldest is the Rathborney Electoral Division, which is to the West of Ballyvaughan and includes Corkscrew Hill.

There, the average resident is aged 49.5 years old.

The second oldest is the Derreen Electoral Division, which is along the coast just south of Fanore – over 30% of people living there are aged at least 65.

Also among the oldest areas in the county are Kilkee, Mullagh, Liscannor and parts of Ennis.

The youngest area in Clare is the Cappavilla Electoral Division, located close to Limerick City.

The average age is 30, more than three years younger than in Cloontra which lies just East of Sixmilebridge.

Crusheen, Quin and Sixmilebridge itself are among the other areas with average populations of under 35.
