New figures suggest a slight drop in the average price of a house selling in Clare.
Data from the Central Statistics Office shows the mean price of a house sold in this county in April was just over €195,000.
There were 67 residential dwelling transactions in Clare in the month of April in the CSO – which is a drop of nearly half compared to the month prior.
The average mean price of those transactions was just over €195,000 compared to €214,000 back in March.
Median prices, which are sometimes seen as a more true reflection of the picture, dropped to around €190,000.
However, there’s no data on the type, size or age of the properties that were traded in this timeframe, which could make a difference to overall values.
First time buyers also saw a substantial decrease in the amount they paid for a home here in that timeframe, at an average of €215,000 compared to €257,000 the month before.
However, they accounted for less than a quarter of property transactions in this county in April.
That month’s housing transactions in Clare added up to a grand total of €13.1 million according to the CSO – a 30 percent fall on the amount traded here in the same month last year.
