Clare Councillors say cross-county improvements are ‘in the works’ throughout this year.

A number of key projects and plans are set to continue to top the list of priorities of Councillors.

One of those is Ennis 2040, which was launched in late 2021 and continues to make progress.

Cathaoirelach of the Ennis municipal district and Fianna Fail Councillor Clare Colleran Molloy says public consultation on future plans for Abbey Street and Parnell Street’s car parks will take place this year.

Transport is also set to prove to be a key theme in the East of the county.

Whitegate-based Fine Gael Councillor Pat Burke says progressing the Killaloe bypass, on which the sod was turned late last year, will be vital for the area.

While Killaloe and surrounding areas are looking forward to the bypass, Shannon’s municipal district chair says that part of the county needs funding to improve local roads in 2023.

The area has no roads allocated to the Local Improvement Scheme 2022, which provides funding for improvement works on small roads and laneways in rural Ireland.

Clonlara-based Independent Councillor Michael Begley says this needs to change in 2023.

The Chair of the West Clare Municipal District says wastewater infrastructure upgrades will need to be pledged if the area is to develop sufficiently.

Ennistymon-based Fianna Fail Councillor Shane Talty believes while there’s lot to be positive about, the likes of Cooraclare and Carrigaholt need assistance.

Councillors will hold their first full meeting of 2023 next Monday, January 9th.
