The School League Tables are being criticised for not being a fair representation of the quality of education in a particular area.

The comments come after a  West Clare school has recorded the most improved levels of students going on to third level education in the country.

Figures show that 100% of Leaving Cert students from Kilrush Community College attended college in 2016, up from 51% in 2009.

Professor Emer Smyth of The Economic and Social Research Institute says that recording third level entry figures does not take the starting point into account.
