A West Clare Auctioneer is criticising new measures expected to be announced to manage the cost of rent.

The environment minister is refusing to confirm details of the compromise package to control the cost of rent but Alan Kelly says there should be no reason for landlords to hike rents just before the new controls are set to kick in.
Under the new rules, landlords will only be able to increase rent every two years – instead of every 12 which is currently the case.
But Manuel Di Lucia says the measures don't address issues faced by landlords who have taken on problem tenants and he's calling for measures to be put in place to protect landlords
