Six People Appear In Court Following Limerick Garda Raid

Six people, including two with addresses Ennis, have appeared in court in Limerick following a major Garda and Defence Forces operation.

A total of 65 searches at a number of premises and waste ground areas in the the city took place yesterday.

As part of “Operation Coronation” more than 300 Gardaí, backed up by the Army, carried out searches in the northside of the city.

A total of twelve arrests were made, including seven men and five women.

38-year-old Heather McNamara, of Childers Road, Cloughleigh, Ennis is facing one count of possession of €20,575, knowing or believing it to be the proceeds of crime.

46-year-old Paul Collopy of Gordon Drive, Cloughleigh, Ennis is also facing a charge of the possession of €20,575 in cash, knowing or believing it to be the proceeds of crime, on March 5th 2020.

29-year-old Nicole Williams of Clonard, Westbury is charged with handling, acquiring, possessing or using €71,340 from the proceeds of crime on August 16th 2020 and of possession of a pepper spray canister, contrary to Section 2 of the Firearms Act.  

41-year-old Leeann Carey of Sean Houston Place, Thomondgate is charged with possessing €32,090, knowing or believing it to be the proceeds of crime on March 5th 2020. 

40-year-old Patrick Moloney, also of Sean Houston Place, Thomondgate faces a charge of the possession of a total of €34,430, knowing or believing it to be the proceeds of crime.    

While 49 year-old John McCarthy of Cliona Park, Moyross is facing two charges – for the possession of two horses in a controlled area, in contravention of local bylaws and of not having the required horse license. 

Mr. Collopy has been remanded in custody, while the other five defendants have been granted bail and will appear before the court again at future dates. 

The operation was also supported by the Criminal Assets Bureau, Garda Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau, the Emergency Response Unit, the Armed Response Unit, Regional Dog Unit, Air Support Unit and Revenue and Customs.
