One Arrested Following A Number Of Fires In Ennis Town Centre

One person has been arrested following a number of fires at business premises in Ennis overnight.

At around 1.30am, Gardaí on patrol discovered recyclable material that had been set alight near a phone shop on O’Connell street, and managed to extinguish it.

But just under an hour later, at around 2.20am, a second fire was lit outside a pharmacy on Abbyey Street, which spread quickly and caused significant damage to the building.

Two units from Ennis Fire Service and Two from Shannon were dispatched to the scene and battled the blaze for a number of hours.

A man in his 20’s was arrested during follow-up searches and he’s being detained at Ennis Garda Section under Section 4 of the Ciminal Justice Act.

During following up searches, a man in his 20s was arrested and detained at Ennis Garda Station, where he’s being questioned under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
