Irish Water Issues Appeal To Landowners Over Pesticide Run-Off

Irish Water is appealing to land owners in Clare to take care when spreading pesticides, to ensure public drinking water is not compromised.

The Ennis public water supply remains on the utility’s watchlist after being found to have elevated levels of MCPA, which is a grassland weed control substance, last year.

There are 20 supplies on this watchlist, while Irish Water also has six priority catchment areas nationally which are of particular concern due to persistent detections of pesticides in the water.
