The relatives of four British soldiers killed in an IRA bombing in London’s Hyde Park in 1982 have won a civil case against the suspect, John Downey.

The High Court ruled that those who died were killed unlawfully and that Downey, who is originally from Saint Joseph’s Terrace in Kilrush, and was an active IRA member at the time, was responsible.

Simon Utley was riding through the park on his first guard duty when the bomb went off – his horse was killed.
