Ennis Murder Accused Further Remanded In Custody

The 39 year old man charged with the murder of Ennis man, Eoin Boylan has been further remanded in custody.

At Ennis District Court today, Nassar Ahmed of The Mews, Kilrush Rd, Ennis appeared in the court via video link from Limerick prison.

It was Mr Ahmed’s third appearance in court since being charged with the murder of mature student, Eoin Boylan (32) at Gordon Drive, Cloughleigh, Ennis on Tuesday, April 14th.

Mr Ahmed could be seen sporting a grey-black beard via video cam today and wearing a white sweat-shirt.

Mr Admed replied ‘yes’ when asked by the court registrar could he see and hear the court.

Solicitor for Mr Ahmed, John Casey stated that the case could be adjourned to June 3rd on consent and that Mr Ahmed be further remanded in custody to that date.

Mr Casey asked that the prison officers arrange for him to speak to his client by phone after the brief court hearing.

Previously, in court, giving evidence of arrest, charge and caution, Det Garda Noelle Bergin told the court that she arrested Mr Ahmed for the purpose of charge at 23.45 at Ennis Garda Station on Wednesday, April 15th.

Det Bergin told the court that Mr Ahmed replied ‘Okay’ after being charged with the murder offence.

Judge Patrick Durcan today remanded the accused to appear via video link to Ennis District Court to June 3rd.
