Almost €63,000 Worth Of Drugs Seized In Three Locations In Clare

Almost 63,000 euro worth of drugs has been seized in three areas in Clare in the past week, as part of an ongoing operation targeting the sale and supply of drugs.

Gardaí carried out searches in Clarecastle, Kilfenora and Killaloe on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.

At around 2 o’clock last Wednesday afternoon, Gardaí attached to the Divisional Drugs Unit executed a search warrant at a house in Clarecastle, where cannabis herb, with an estimated street value of €12,800 was seized.

A male in his early 20’s was interviewed at the scene.

The following day, Killaloe Gardaí and members of the Clare Divisional Drugs Unit, carried out a search of a premises in O’Briensbridge, which resulted in the seizure of suspected cannabis herb, with an estimated street value of more than €45,000.

A man in his late 20s was arrested at the scene and has since been charged in connection with the seizure.

Shortly after 6.30 on Thursday evening, during a separate search operation at a house in Bridgetown, suspected cannabis herb estimated to be worth around €7,000 was seized.

Meanwhile, on Saturday evening, Gardaí from Ennistymon executed a search warrant at a location in Kilfenora, where cannabis herb with an estimated street value of €5,000 and Cannabis Resin with an estimated street value of €6,500 were seized.

No arrests have been made in relation to this seizure, but Gardaí say they’re following a definite line of enquiry.

The drugs seized during the searches are being forwarded to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.

The seizures form part of Operation Tara, which is an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy, which aims to disrupt, dismantle and prosecute drug trafficking networks at all levels, locally, nationally and internationally.
