More than 70 people were convicted of drugs offences in Clare in the first ten months of this year, despite the COVID pandemic forcing a slowdown in court activity.

New figures from the Court Service show they were among 3,100 across the country over that period, with Dublin accounting for more than 19% of the convictions.

66 people were convicted for drugs offences in the courts in Ennis, with 6 in Kilrush and 1 in Killaloe, while the overall number for the county is only 17 less than the figure for all of 2019.
