In the months of July, August and September, 39 people were arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs for sale or supply – that’s the highest amount recorded in any quarter since these records began back in 2003.

The three months to September also saw 20 sexual offences. The vast majority of these were for the offences of rape and sexual assault, and the total number is also the highest recorded over that near twenty-year period.

There were 30 drink driving and for drug driving offences.

40 burglaries were recorded, which is an increase on the summer but is generally back on what would be expected.

The CSO figures also record 214 thefts in those three months, the highest figure recorded in any quarterly period in the space of a year.
