Clare outdoor water users are being urged to wash and dry equipment as part of effort to prevent the spread of a deadly fungal plague.
This comes after a plague of fungus which can prove deadly to wildlife such as crayfish has been detected in Clare’s border counties.

First detected in Cavan, the fungus has spread to River Lorrha, Co.Tipperary which feeds into the Lough Derg on the River Shannon.
Fisheries Environmental Officer with Inland Fisheries Ireland, Jane Gilleran says prevention is the only way to stop the plague spreading.
