Gardaí will be out in force on Clare roads today in an effort to crack down on unaccompanied learner drivers.

Additional resources have been put in place across the county as part Operation Learner Permit, a national campaign being carried out over the next 24 hours by An Garda Síochána.
Learner drivers driving unaccompanied face two penalty points and an 80 euro fine or four penalty points on conviction, while those failing to display an L – Plate or N – Plate will also receive penalty points and a 60 euro fine.
Sergeant Darragh Molloy of the Clare Garda Traffic Corps says compliance has been slipping in recent months.
