COVID-19 rates have continue to increase in both North and West Clare this week.
The Ennistymon local electoral area now has a prevalence of the virus that’s well above the national average.
82 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in the Ennistymon area in the 14 days up to Monday, leaving its incidence rate of the disease at 499.8 per 100,000 people.
That’s a figure that’s more than 30 percent above the national average.
The number of cases within the fortnight in West Clare has almost doubled compared to two weeks ago.
69 people were diagnosed with COVID in the Kilrush electoral area in the past fortnight, and its rate stands at 328.7.
64 new cases in East Clare is also a slight increase in the same timeframe, and the rate of the virus per 100,000 people in the Killaloe electoral area is now at 318.3.
The virus’ prevalence is continuing to fall in Shannon area, though.
The region’s 75 cases in the last 14 days see its rate at 246.7.
Ennis’ figure remains the lowest of this county’s five electoral areas, which is now 232.9 after 72 new cases there in the past fortnight.
