Gardaí say Charlene Sherlock slashed and stabbed 22 year old Nicole Keane in the face, neck and torso in a drunken attack on April 13, 2013.

During the attack Ms Sherlock made a phone call to her father to tell him "the young one is dead…. She’s been stabbed."

Detective Inspector John Galvin told the court Ms Sherlock attacked Ms Keane because she believed the victim was being unfaithful to Ms Sherlock’s brother whom she was going out with at the time.

The two women had been drinking prior to the incident, and afterwards, Ms Sherlock walked up the town of Ennis in a bloodied state to steal a bottle of vodka.

In her statement, Nicole Keane said that all she remembers is receiving two stabs in the back but she declined to make a victim impact statement.

Offering her unreserved apologies, counsel for Charlene Sherlock said his client comes from a family of 13 – her mother died in tragic circumstances in 2008 and her elder brother Jimmy was found dead on Ennis Golf Course on August 16.

She was remanded in custody to be sentenced on December 13th.
