County Dog Warden Calls For Stricter Punishments For Dog Theft

Clare’s County Dog Warden is calling for stricter punishments for dog thieves.

Frankie Coote is reacting to plans by Fianna Fáil TD James Browne to draft new legislation giving more legal status to dogs and other pets to ensure those who steal them are given tougher sentences.

Currently, household pets are considered property and their theft is punished in the same way as any inanimate object.
