A West Clare Councillor insists measures should be put in place to ensure that ordinary people can understand how Clare County Council spends its money.
A proposal to establish a finance sub-committee which would show a break down of local authority expenses has been defeated at the council’s monthly meeting.

Christy Curtin was one of six representatives who supported the idea – 16 opposed it, and one abstained from the vote.
Miltown Malbay Independent Councillor Curtin says people should be fully informed about the way local authority funds are being spent.
