East Clare Councillors are to meet with Irish Water today about controversial plans to extract water from River Shannon.

Irish Water has outlined four proposals to deal with an expected shortage of water in the greater Dublin area.
Three of those would see water taken from the Shannon, but there are concerns this would hurt the local environment and the economy here.
Today, Councillors will hold discussions on the project with Irish Water at a meeting in Scarriff.
