Clare Councillors are set to clash this afternoon over proposals to provide a €10 million loan to a company registered to socially and economically develop Ennis town.
Ennis 2040 DAC is tasked with providing employment opportunities, environmental improvements and other plans for the town developed in conjunction with the as-yet unpublished Ennis 2040 strategy.
It’s understood representatives from both East and West Clare are set to voice their concerns at a similar package not being available in rural areas at a full meeting of Councillors later today.
Newly-elected Mayor of Ennis, Independent Councillor Ann Norton, says Ennis has to be the focus for funding as the county’s capital town.
