Councillors Seek National Answer To Local Encampments Problem

Clare County Council is being urged to introduce bye-laws preventing illegal encampments at the county's sea side resorts and recreational areas.

Existing laws cover national roads and motorways but Councillors now want legislation to be extended to include local roads.

Councilllor Michael Hillary has suggested a pilot scheme governing coastal areas including Spanish Point and Lahinch where he says illegal encampments are a cause for concern, particularly during the tourist season.
