Clare Councillors are demanding answers from Irish Water as the body we're paying our water charges to was described as "a complete shambles.”
Last night's meeting of Clare County Council was dominated by concerns over water costs and confusion as to what Clare residents will get for their money.
The meeting heard that around 289 council staff now work for Irish Water at a cost of over 6.5 million euro per year but are still directly employed by the local authority which may end up footing the bill for future cutbacks by the water services body.
The Council CEO also told members that he had no information on how much it will cost to call out Irish Water to fix leaks after claims by East Clare Fianna Fail Councillor Pat Hayes that people are living in fear of the new structure.
