The call has been made by members of Clare County Council, during a debate in which it was decided that they will support the Restaurant Association of Ireland’s campaign to retain the 9% VAT Rate for the tourism and hospitality sector.

The group says the introduction of lower tax band for the sector has created 9,000 jobs to date, and are calling on government to maintain it in next month’s budget.

Local representatives say the benefits are also being felt here in Clare.
