Clare County Council plans to increase its spending on housing by over €2.3 million next year in spite of financial difficulties brought on by COVID-19.

Last night, Councillors adopted a Budget for 2021 which plans for 131 million euro worth of current expenditure, as well as a further 113 million on capital projects.

Commercial rates levels remain untouched, and there are some enhanced supports for businesses, while the Budget has also been prepared on the expectation that the Council will receive 44 million euro in grants and subsidies from government, even though much of this has yet to be confirmed.
